Sharjah unveiled its first global ‘Sharjah Next: Healthcare’ forum, highlighting innovation in healthcare and solidifying its position as a science hub.

SHARJAH: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the first edition of the global “Sharjah Next” series, focused on healthcare innovation. The event was hosted at the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) and attended by Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi.

The CEO of SRTIP, Hussain Al Mahmoudi, declared the event as a signal of Sharjah’s long-term commitment to health and wellbeing. He shared that SRTIP now hosts over 10,000 innovative companies, spanning sectors from scientific research to healthcare innovation.

Strategic collaborations were announced with Emirates Health Services, Sharjah Health Authority, Beeah Group, and Aster DM Healthcare to connect scientific breakthroughs with practical healthcare delivery. Al Mahmoudi highlighted these partnerships as the foundation for linking environmental sustainability to public health.

Two high-level panel discussions featured global experts including Sir Magdi Yacoub, Dr. Humaid Al Shamsi, and Dr. Vladimir Ivkovic. Topics ranged from cardiovascular and cancer innovation to AI-driven diagnostics and space medicine.

The Ruler of Sharjah also reviewed the master plan for the upcoming Jawaher Boston Medical District and signed a special edition of Nature magazine, spotlighting Sharjah’s healthcare research. The magazine reported that 20% of Sharjah’s scientific output focuses on neuroscience and cardiology, with a steady annual growth.

The two-day forum continues with discussions on genomics, digital therapeutics, and ethical healthcare innovation, positioning Sharjah as a future leader in medical research.
