SHARJAH: Following the directives of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Corporation (EKTFA) is expanding Mleiha Dairy Farm’s cow herd. The farm’s herd will grow from 5,000 to 8,000 cows, thanks to a new contract with Inntro Agrar GmbH.

This agreement involves the supply of 1,500 pregnant Holstein cows of the Danish A2A2 breed. These cows, with natural, non-genetically modified A2A2 genes, will be flown in with all necessary health, nutritional needs, and insurance covered. The shipment will comply with UAE’s stringent specifications and medical examinations for imported livestock.

The expansion is designed to meet the increasing local demand for Mleiha’s organic milk. This demand is attributed to the robust food safety system established by His Highness, which focuses on healthy food and superior cow breeds to ensure the purity of milk products.

In addition to meeting local milk demands, the Mleiha Dairy Farm project supports community-focused research and academic efforts. It collaborates with leading institutions, including the University of Al Dhaid, to study the benefits of the farm’s clean and healthy products.

EKTFA’s Executive Director, Dr. Engineer Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, emphasized that this expansion aligns with the Sharjah Food Strategy. This strategy aims to provide high-quality, healthy food products and supports the local community through ongoing research and development.
