DUBAI: The UAE has launched a new strategic planning cycle that places artificial intelligence at the heart of government policy and transformation. Announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the initiative marks a significant step in accelerating the country’s progress toward achieving the ambitious ‘We the UAE 2031’ Vision.

Speaking at the launch event, Sheikh Mohammed emphasised the shift from traditional government operations to a more agile, smart, and efficient system. “Government success is no longer about complex regulations—it’s about agility, simplicity, and intelligent resource use,” he stated. He also directed all federal entities to begin developing forward-looking strategies that integrate artificial intelligence and future technologies.

The new AI-driven planning cycle is set to modernise how government entities operate, reducing procedural burdens and increasing responsiveness to global changes. Notably, the strategy cycle has been shortened from five to three years, enabling more regular updates and agile policy alignment.

UAE launches AI-driven planning strategy

Led by the Prime Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, a strategic workshop was recently held with directors from 38 federal entities. Attendees explored innovative frameworks that fuse data analytics, predictive modelling, and performance indicators with strategic planning. These elements, together with AI integration, are expected to elevate decision-making and long-term readiness.

The planning model supports simplifying processes, enhancing financial efficiency, and shifting focus from daily tasks to impactful national projects. It also enables better collaboration across ministries and improved alignment with major national strategies, including the National Cybersecurity Strategy and National Investment Strategy.

Her Excellency Huda Al Hashimi, Head of Strategy and Government Innovation, highlighted the importance of strategic intelligence and big data in anticipating future needs. She praised the federal government’s united approach in turning the goals of the 2031 Vision into real, measurable national outcomes.

The launch marks a pivotal moment for UAE governance, aiming to establish the nation as a global leader in smart, sustainable, and future-ready government systems.
