JD Vance and Usha Vance
First on the list is US Vice President JD Vance, who is married to Usha Chilukuri Vance, a woman of Indian-American background. She was born to Hindu and Telugu speaking Indian immigrant parents and grew up in California. It is significant to note that Usha Vance is the first Second Lady of the United States to be of Indian-American descent.
Douglas Emhoff and Kamala Harris
Douglas Emhoff became the first ever Second Gentleman of the United States when his wife Kamala Harris assumed office of Vice President back in 2021. Kamala Harris was also born to immigrant parents, her mother from India and her father from Jamaica. She served as 49th Vice President of the US and ran for the 2025 President elections, making her the first Black woman and person of South Asian descent.
