Dubai Humanitarian, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, dispatched an emergency airlift carrying 84 tonnes of relief supplies to Afghanistan earthquake survivors.
Dubai — In response to the devastating earthquake that struck Afghanistan last week, Dubai Humanitarian has launched an emergency airlift carrying vital aid to thousands of survivors. Acting under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, the relief consignment underscores the UAE’s role as a global hub for humanitarian action.
The operation, organised in close collaboration with WHO, UNHCR, UNHRD, and UNICEF, saw a B747 freighter depart Dubai carrying approximately 84 metric tonnes of medical supplies, shelter materials, and emergency relief items, valued at more than AED 3.4 million (USD 929,500). This aid shipment is expected to benefit over 730,000 individuals impacted by the disaster.
Giuseppe Saba, CEO and Board Member of Dubai Humanitarian, emphasised the swift mobilisation: “Dubai Humanitarian enables organisations to act swiftly and effectively when disasters strike. This airlift reflects our collective commitment to stand with the people of Afghanistan in their time of need.”
He added that guided by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s vision, Dubai continues to strengthen its role as a global logistics hub for preparedness and response—enabling international relief agencies to coordinate quickly in times of crisis.
With this mission, Dubai Humanitarian reaffirms the UAE’s enduring commitment to global solidarity and its vital role in supporting humanitarian relief operations worldwide.
