CAIRO: Egypt, Qatar, and the United States announced on Friday that senior officials from the three nations will meet in Cairo next week for more talks aimed at reaching a Gaza ceasefire agreement.
The joint statement, quoted by Ahram Online, mentioned that intense negotiations took place over the past 48 hours in Doha to mediate a ceasefire and secure the release of captives and detainees.
On Friday, the US, with backing from Qatar and Egypt, proposed a plan that narrows differences and aligns with President Biden’s principles from 31st May 2024 and UN Security Council Resolution 2735. This proposal builds on previous agreements and addresses remaining issues to enable swift implementation.
Technical teams are working on the details, including humanitarian arrangements and matters concerning captives and detainees.
