ABU DHABI: The UAE has begun loading its eighth aid vessel, named Khalifa, at Khalifa Port as part of its ongoing humanitarian initiative for Gaza. The ship is being equipped with a fully functional field hospital covering multiple medical specialties, alongside ambulances, water tankers and essential medicines.
A large supply of ready-to-eat meals, along with community kitchen and field bakery provisions, is also being loaded. The cargo includes tents, relief kits, clothing, mattresses and hygiene kits tailored to support families and children affected by the conflict. Drinking water tankers are included to tackle the critical water shortages in Gaza.
Once fully loaded, the vessel will sail to Al Arish Port in Egypt, where the aid will be transferred into Gaza via the Rafah crossing. This deployment forms part of “Operation Chivalrous Knight 3”, the UAE’s sustained campaign of humanitarian support, which has delivered over 55,000 tonnes of aid by sea, air and road.
The ship’s departure demonstrates a strategic and methodical approach, positioning the UAE as a major humanitarian donor and key regional partner. With infrastructure in Gaza severely damaged, the mobile field hospital and vital supplies aim to alleviate civilian suffering under dire circumstances.
