Dubai launched the ‘I Am Peacekeeper Movement’ uniting Nobel laureates, policymakers, and leaders to promote dialogue, fraternity, and global peace.
DUBAI: In a landmark moment for international dialogue, Dubai witnessed the launch of the ‘I Am Peacekeeper Movement’ on Thursday, bringing together a distinguished line-up of Nobel laureates, policymakers, social entrepreneurs, and changemakers from across the globe.
The initiative was spearheaded by Dr Huzaifa Khorakiwala, founder of the movement and Executive Director of the Wockhardt healthcare conglomerate. The event was attended by prominent figures including Dr Asle Toje, Vice Chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Professor Mohan Munasinghe, Nobel Peace Prize laureate of 2007, Ouided Bouchamaoui, Nobel Peace Laureate of 2015, and Dr Khalid Ghanem Al Ghaith, Secretary-General of the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity (HCHF), Abu Dhabi. Their presence underlined an unprecedented call for dialogue, unity, and collective peace amid rising global tensions.
Dr Khorakiwala addressed the gathering, emphasising that peace is not an abstract idea but a shared responsibility. “With this movement, we aim to bring together individuals and institutions ready to commit to dialogue and action. Dubai, as a crossroads of cultures, offers the perfect platform for this initiative,” he noted. The movement will focus on 12 key initiatives, including building an online network of two million advocates, hosting the Billionaires for Peace Conclave 2026, and expanding global networks of directors and influencers.
Professor Munasinghe stressed that sustainable peace depends on fairness and inclusion. “Peace-building is about ensuring economic justice, environmental care, and social inclusion,” he said. Dr Al Ghaith echoed similar sentiments, noting the UAE’s dedication to promoting tolerance and coexistence.
The launch follows Dubai’s successful hosting of a record-breaking peace summit earlier this year that gathered 12 Nobel laureates at Expo City Dubai. Looking ahead, the city is set to host the Billionaires For Peace Conclave 2026 next February, expected to be another milestone in international dialogue.
