DUBAI: Jean-Brice Dumont, Head of Air Power at Airbus Defence and Space, reaffirmed Airbus’ commitment to strengthening the UAE aviation sector by localising aircraft parts manufacturing. This dedication was underlined as Airbus announced a new partnership with EDGE Group, enabling the UAE to produce a specialised fuel tank for the C295 transport aircraft. Dumont noted that all Airbus aircraft produced today feature UAE-made parts, a testament to this collaboration’s success.

Highlighting Airbus’ long-term vision for the UAE, Dumont shared plans to double its industrial activities in the country over the next decade. This strategy not only meets local market needs but also aims to position the UAE as a global hub for aircraft parts manufacturing. Airbus’ partnership efforts are broad, building Emirati expertise in the aviation sector to elevate the UAE’s international profile as a key player in aircraft manufacturing.

Dumont praised partnerships with UAE companies like EDGE Group, EPI, and Strata, emphasising that these collaborations focus on transferring advanced knowledge and cultivating local engineering expertise. Since the first locally manufactured Airbus part was produced in collaboration with Strata in 2010, Airbus has expanded its operations, creating a significant shift towards UAE-led manufacturing and autonomy in the aviation industry.

With the launch of fuel tank production for the C295, the UAE has now become the sole global supplier for these components. Dumont described this as a model of industrial independence, further enhancing the UAE’s national production capabilities and competitiveness on a global scale.

Airbus is also focused on empowering Emirati talent by providing an environment that supports skill development and promotes technical autonomy. Beyond production training, Dumont shared that Airbus seeks to foster innovation, encouraging local talent to advance in design and contribute to industrial progress in the UAE.
