DP World has expanded its electric vehicle fleet at Jebel Ali Port to 146 units, cutting emissions and boosting green logistics.
DUBAI: DP World has significantly expanded its electric internal terminal vehicle (eITV) fleet at Jebel Ali Port, growing from 14 units in December 2024 to 146 as of October 2025 — one of the largest electric port fleets in the Middle East. The milestone underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable logistics and the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 strategy.
The DP World electric fleet now includes more than 100 new electric vehicles sourced from leading global manufacturers and 35 diesel models that were converted to electric by DP World’s in-house engineering teams. These eITVs transport containers between quay cranes, yard stacks, and terminal gates, and are now supported by a robust network of rapid-charging stations.
The expanded fleet is expected to cut diesel usage significantly and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 10%, equivalent to removing approximately 2,255 cars from the road each year. This move not only enhances operational efficiency but also supports the transition to cleaner, more resilient supply chains.
Additionally, DP World has introduced 11 new electric empty container handlers to manage container movements within the terminal — another step in reshaping traditional port logistics into a more sustainable model.
“Electrifying our port operations is a strategic priority that supports UAE’s Net Zero 2050 ambitions,” said Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC. “By scaling our electric fleet and transitioning to cleaner energy at Jebel Ali Port, we are building future-ready and more resilient supply chains that benefit our customers and the communities we serve.”
The DP World electric fleet initiative places Jebel Ali Port at the forefront of green port infrastructure in the region and sets a benchmark for other global ports seeking to decarbonise.
