flydubai has launched applications for its 2025 Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Apprenticeship to train Emirati youth as certified aircraft technicians.
Dubai: flydubai has officially opened applications for its Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Apprenticeship, inviting motivated Emirati high school graduates to join its 2025 intake. The fully sponsored four-year programme, run under the airline’s Maintenance and Engineering department, is part of the UAE National Development programme.
The initiative aims to equip young UAE Nationals with specialised aviation engineering skills and real-world experience. Upon successful completion, participants will become certified Aircraft Technicians approved by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), enabling them to begin careers in one of the most dynamic sectors in the UAE.
Nasser Binkherbash, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at flydubai, said the programme reflects the airline’s commitment to investing in homegrown talent. He stated that the GCAA CAR 147 certification allows flydubai to deliver in-house training that builds a strong pool of UAE Nationals prepared to support the airline’s growth.
The apprenticeship is open to UAE Nationals aged 17 to 24 who meet the entry criteria. Participants will engage in rigorous theoretical and practical training for up to four years. Those who complete the first phase to company standards will move on to hands-on training as Aircraft Technician trainees, working on operational aircraft while maintaining a performance logbook.
Graduates will then be eligible to apply for the GCAA’s Basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence (AMEL) and join flydubai as full-time certified technicians. The programme is a key part of flydubai’s broader commitment to Emiratisation, which also includes the Ab Initio Pilot Training Programme, Cadet Pilot Programme, and various internship opportunities.
Binkherbash added that the success of the first batch of apprentices has validated the importance of this initiative. He expressed enthusiasm for welcoming a new group of future engineers who are passionate about innovation and aviation.
Applications for the September 2025 batch are now open. Interested candidates can find more information and apply at careers.flydubai.com.
