ABU DHABI: India’s Minister of Petroleum has underscored the prominent leadership role of UAE in the global energy sector, recognizing it as a leading producer in vital energy resources. The UAE has made remarkable progress in its energy transition efforts and is particularly noted for its advancements in green hydrogen production and management of critical minerals. The country’s diverse energy mix positions it as a significant player in the ongoing global energy evolution.

During the 40th edition of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2024), the Minister highlighted the strong economic cooperation between India and the UAE, especially in the energy sector. This collaboration is expected to bolster bilateral trade relations, benefiting both nations and contributing positively to the wider region.
With India experiencing a surge in natural gas consumption, a long-term agreement has been established for the supply of one million metric tonnes of gas annually. This partnership, facilitated by key energy companies, opens avenues for deeper collaboration and significant investment opportunities between the two countries.
The Minister also shared India’s goal to increase the share of natural gas in its energy mix from 6% to 15% by next October, indicating a commitment to enhancing energy sustainability and cooperation with the UAE.

Moreover, the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in the energy sector was highlighted, with the Minister describing AI as a game-changer. India is leveraging AI technologies across various sectors, including energy, to improve efficiency and address challenges constructively.
The Minister expressed enthusiasm about the participation of Indian energy companies at ADIPEC 2024, emphasizing that the exhibition serves as an essential platform for exchanging ideas, best practices, and fostering discussions that shape the future of the global energy landscape.
