DUBAI: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has rolled out a series of “Quick Wins” at the Ras Al Khor–Al Meydan Street intersection, designed to significantly enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion in one of Dubai’s busiest corridors. The improvement works are set to be completed by 10 August.

Key among the changes is the expansion of the right-turn lane from Ras Al Khor towards Al Meydan Street Interchange. The number of lanes has been increased from two to three, raising traffic capacity by 50%—from 1,800 to 2,700 vehicles per hour. This move is expected to directly benefit traffic coming from Ras Al Khor Industrial Area heading to Nad Al Sheba, Al Meydan Street, and key developments like Business Bay, Al Quoz, and Al Safa.

The enhancements are part of RTA’s broader strategic plan to accommodate Dubai’s rapid urban expansion and growing population. The upgrades aim to reduce travel time, ease congestion during peak hours, and boost road safety for all commuters.

RTA noted that the improvements were identified based on a four-point system involving traffic studies, real-time input from control centres, public feedback, and on-ground assessments. The initiative reflects RTA’s commitment to enhancing the overall mobility experience across Dubai’s road network through continuous innovation and timely infrastructure development.
