DUBAI: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority – RTA – has started a trial with a smart vehicle that uses AI to spot damage on roads and check traffic diversions. This step shows RTA’s dedication to using the latest tech to keep roads in top shape and make driving safer in Dubai.
This smart vehicle is packed with precise tools to gather information about road conditions and ensure traffic diversions meet RTA’s standards. It has cameras, sensors, and other gadgets to find and report damage, all done automatically without needing humans.

Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency, said, “RTA aims to boost how we monitor and fix road damage quickly. This helps keep our roads and infrastructure looking good and working well, supporting Dubai’s growth and making it a safe place for everyone.”
He added, “This smart AI vehicle is great at spotting road issues and checking traffic diversions. It uses AI to find problems and send the info for processing and analysis. It covers 30% more area and cuts inspection time by 70% compared to old methods.”

Al Banna mentioned that this new system can report damage with over 85% accuracy, much better than traditional ways. It also helps check traffic diversions are set up right, ensuring smooth and safe traffic flow.
He concluded by saying, “RTA will keep up with new AI technology to inspect and maintain our assets. We’re committed to the best practices to keep our roads safe and smooth for all vehicle drivers and pedestrians in Dubai.”
