ISLAMABAD: TikTok has taken down nearly 25 million videos in Pakistan during the first quarter of 2025 for violating its community guidelines, marking one of the highest regional content removals worldwide, as per multiple news agencies in Pakistan.
According to TikTok’s Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, a total of 24,954,128 videos were proactively removed from the platform within Pakistan, reflecting a strong enforcement strategy.
The report highlights that 99.4 per cent of these videos were flagged and removed before users could report them, and 95.8 per cent were eliminated within just 24 hours of posting — showcasing TikTok’s swift moderation approach in the region. Pakistan has consistently remained one of the top countries for content enforcement on the app.
Globally, TikTok removed approximately 211 million videos during the same period, which accounts for 0.9 per cent of all videos uploaded on the platform. Notably, more than 184 million of these were identified and deleted by TikTok’s automated moderation systems. Additionally, over 7.5 million videos were reinstated following secondary reviews.
The most common reason for video removals worldwide was the inclusion of sensitive or mature themes, representing 30.1 per cent of all cases. Other infractions included misinformation (45.5 per cent), privacy violations (15.6 per cent), AI-manipulated content (13.8 per cent), and safety breaches (11.5 per cent).
TikTok reiterated that its quarterly reports aim to promote transparency and give users and regulators insight into how the platform handles content violations. “We are committed to building trust by sharing how we protect the community and uphold our guidelines at scale,” the company stated.
