DUBAI: The UAE is gearing up for the 33rd Summer Olympic Games in Paris, and they’ve just unveiled all the exciting details! Our UAE team in Paris Olympics is all set to shine with a squad of 14 athletes.
From July 26 to August 11, 2024, athletes from all over the globe will gather in France to compete in 32 sports across 329 events at 35 venues. It’s a massive event with 10,500 athletes and tons of media buzzing around—about 20,000 reporters and 45,000 volunteers will be part of the action, not to mention 350,000 hours of TV coverage!
The UAE team will be showing off their skills in five sports: equestrian, judo, cycling, swimming, and athletics. It’s a big deal because we’ve got Abdullah, Omar, Salem, Ali, and more taking on the world in equestrian show jumping. Over in judo, Narmand, Talal, Aram, Dhafer, Omar, and Bashirat are ready to throw down—literally!
We’re especially proud of Safia, our first Emirati female cyclist to make it to the Olympics, and swimmers Yousef and Maha making waves in their events. And let’s not forget Maryam, who’s racing in the 100m dash!
Omar Al Marzouqi gets the honor of carrying our UAE flag at the opening ceremony. Picture this—10,500 athletes all gathered along the Seine River, with boats of every shape and size floating around. It’s going to be epic!
At the press conference in Dubai, Faris Mohammed Al Mutawaa from the National Olympic Committee thanked everyone who’s made this journey possible, especially H. H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his support. He’s pumped about our team’s chances and excited about all the historic firsts happening at these Games.
