Iconic relay race Hood to Coast launches in Dubai on 10 January 2026 to unite communities through endurance and sport.
DUBAI: The legendary global relay race Hood to Coast is making its Middle East debut in Dubai on 10 January 2026, bringing its unique community-driven endurance experience to the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve. Organised with the support of the Dubai Sports Council, the event invites runners of all backgrounds to celebrate teamwork, fitness, and connection through a 100-kilometre desert relay.
Founded in Oregon, USA, in 1982, Hood to Coast has become the world’s largest and most celebrated relay race, attracting over 80,000 participants annually. After successful editions in China and Europe, the race is now expanding to Dubai — a city known for innovation and multiculturalism. Teams of three to five runners will navigate desert terrain in 4×4 vehicles, passing through iconic natural spots like Al Qudra Lake, Flamingo Lake, and the Dubai Solar Park.
The route weaves through Dubai’s preserved ecosystem, showcasing the UAE’s sustainability values while offering views of wildlife such as the Arabian Oryx, Reem gazelle, and Ghaf trees. The event aims to deepen community ties by aligning with the UAE National Sports Strategy 2031, Dubai Social Agenda 33, and D33 Economic Agenda, which focus on health, inclusion, and quality of life.
Participants can register across various categories, including corporate, community, family, and international teams. Registration opened on 24 October 2025, with final entries closing on 10 December 2025. Early bird rates apply until the end of October.
Commenting on the event, Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, said: “Dubai’s ability to host iconic global events like Hood to Coast demonstrates our city’s growth as a global sports hub. It also reflects our commitment to community wellness and international cooperation.”
The Dubai edition is presented by XDubai, in strategic partnership with the Al Salam Championship. It is organised by PACEX Sports Group with support from Nizzami Events Management. Hood to Coast Dubai is poised to boost the city’s sports tourism by increasing hotel stays, retail spending, and media exposure, while fostering cross-cultural bonds.
