DUBAI: H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), has announced the launch of the Elite Club under a new vision, in line with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) standards. This initiative aims to identify and support exceptional athletes across various sports, providing an optimal environment for their development.

The announcement was made at the Extraordinary Meeting of the General Assembly of the NOC, held in Dubai. The meeting, chaired by Sheikh Ahmed, focused on the future of the Olympic movement in the UAE, particularly for the 2024–2028 Olympic period. It was attended by senior figures, including Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the NOC, Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports, and other key officials.

The Elite Club is designed to offer advanced training programs and technical and financial support to athletes, ensuring they achieve top results on regional and international stages. The club’s launch will be overseen by the NOC, working with relevant entities to implement its objectives. The Secretary-General has been tasked with developing a proposal for the club’s structure and resource allocation, to be submitted for approval within a month.

Additionally, the General Assembly approved an extension of the current Board of Directors’ term until the end of the 2028 Olympic Games. The NOC’s new technical and sports vision focuses on promoting sporting values, enhancing athlete performance, especially in women’s sports, and encouraging a healthy lifestyle across the nation.

The meeting also approved the construction of the NOC’s new headquarters in Dubai, set to open in the first quarter of 2025, and the formation of a new Sports Arbitration Council for the 2024–2028 term.
