UAE Youth Muay Thai National Team wins 96 medals at the Youth Muay Thai World Championships, showcasing the sport’s rapid growth in the country.

ABU DHABI: The UAE Youth Muay Thai National Team has made history with a remarkable achievement, earning a total of 96 medals at the recently concluded Youth Muay Thai World Championships. The event, hosted in Abu Dhabi, brought together more than 1,200 young athletes from 100 countries across six continents for a week of elite martial arts competition.

This year’s UAE team was its largest yet, fielding 122 athletes across different divisions and weight categories, including a Para Muay Thai squad. The delegation’s medal haul included 40 gold, 21 silver, and 35 bronze medals — the highest tally at the championship. The UAE secured second place overall, narrowly behind neutral athletes competing under the International Federation of Muay Thai’s (IFMA) flag.

The success underscores the efforts of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation in building a strong foundation for the sport within the country. Through a focus on youth training, local tournaments, and national development programs, the federation has been preparing its athletes for top-tier global events.

Speaking on the achievement, Abdullah Saeed Al Neyadi, Chairman of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation, said the victory is dedicated to the UAE’s wise leadership and people. He described the result as a reflection of the federation’s commitment to nurturing young talent capable of representing the country internationally.

The week-long event wasn’t only about competition. It also featured workshops, coaching clinics, and referee training — initiatives that helped solidify Abu Dhabi’s growing reputation as a global martial arts hub.

IFMA Secretary-General Stephan Fox commended Abu Dhabi for delivering a championship of “world-class professionalism,” while Tareq Mohammed Al Mehairi of the UAE Federation highlighted the importance of strategic planning in achieving this landmark performance.
