The Abu Dhabi Grappling Championship 2025 concludes in Al Ain with Commando Group crowned champions as Emirati clubs sweep top honours.

Abu Dhabi: The inaugural Abu Dhabi World Grappling Championship 2025 concluded in style at ADNEC Centre Al Ain, with the UAE’s Commando Group crowned overall champions. Organised by International Vision Sports Management (IVSM) under the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP) banner, the three-day event brought together over 1,000 athletes from 60+ countries, showcasing intense action and technical brilliance.

The UAE dominated the final standings, with Commando Group taking first place, followed by ADMA International and M.O.D UAE. The championship featured competitions across professional, masters, amateur, and youth categories. Winners received medals and cash prizes, with a festive closing ceremony attended by Sheikh Tarik bin Faisal Al Qassimi, Saeed Al Dhaheri from the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi, and IVSM General Manager Tareq Al Bahri.

Al Bahri stated: “We delivered a world-class championship that attracted elite athletes and positioned Al Ain and Abu Dhabi as global grappling hubs. We are committed to further expanding the sport through future editions.”

Notable victories included Pouya Rahmani from Team Nogueira Dubai, who claimed gold in the Men’s 125kg Professionals category, and Caroline Vinhaes of Piramide Grappling Association, who triumphed in the Women’s 55kg Professionals division.

Rahmani shared, “This is my first world title as a black belt. Beating my previous opponent made it even more meaningful.” Vinhaes added, “The tournament was outstanding, from the organisation to the level of talent.”

Backed by the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi, the event firmly placed Abu Dhabi grappling championship on the global map and highlighted the UAE’s commitment to developing combat sports talent and hosting premier international events.
