Dubai Culture debuts an interactive online exhibition celebrating Burj Rashid’s legacy through immersive storytelling, 3D tours, and works by over 30 artists.
DUBAI: Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has unveiled a virtual edition of the Burj Rashid Exhibition, marking a new digital chapter in the celebration of one of Dubai’s most iconic architectural landmarks. Originally launched to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Burj Rashid, the exhibition now lives online, offering a 360-degree interactive journey through art, history, and heritage.
Building on the success of its physical debut at Al Safa Art and Design Library, the new digital platform was developed with support from the Sikka Platform. It also launches the ‘Dubai Series’ — an initiative spotlighting the city’s creative evolution through contemporary, tech-driven formats.
Audiences can navigate the virtual gallery to view over 30 art pieces inspired by Burj Rashid, mostly created by Emirati artists alongside a few international contributors. These works reflect diverse interpretations of the tower’s cultural, architectural, and economic impact on Dubai’s skyline and identity.
One of the key highlights is a detailed 3D tour showcasing the skyscraper’s transformation from blueprint to reality. Archival documents, multimedia stories, and original design elements are seamlessly integrated into the user experience, inviting visitors to explore the tower’s enduring relevance.
Curated by Kamla Al Olama, the original five-month exhibition received support from 7X, Al Bayan, Gulf News, Ramesh Gallery, and John R. Harris & Partners — the British firm responsible for constructing Burj Rashid in 1979. As Dubai’s first skyscraper, the 149-metre-high structure remained the tallest in the region for two decades and laid the foundation for the development of the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The virtual Burj Rashid Exhibition serves as both a tribute and a digital archive, bridging past and present while highlighting Dubai’s relentless pursuit of cultural innovation and architectural excellence.
