Mohammed Bin Rashid Library will Host the First Dubai International Library Conference 2024 from November 15-17, 2024
DUBAI: The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library recently announced its plans to host the inaugural Dubai International Library Conference 2024, a significant event in the Middle East and North Africa region. Scheduled from November 15-17, 2024, this conference will bring together over 60 speakers and representatives from more than 25 countries under the theme “Our Libraries, Past, Present and Future.”
Isobel Abulhoul, a member of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation’s Board of Directors, emphasized the conference’s importance during a recent press briefing. She highlighted how it offers a crucial opportunity for global experts to gather and discuss the evolving challenges facing libraries worldwide. Abulhoul stressed the need for libraries, especially in the MENA region, to adapt to the digital age while preserving cultural heritage and preparing for an uncertain future. She noted the library’s commitment to adopting international best practices and fostering partnerships to advance global knowledge.
Ibrahim Al Hashmi, another board member, underscored the conference’s role in promoting cultural exchange and understanding through libraries. He described how the event will explore topics such as digital transformation and the evolution of libraries into future museums, reflecting diverse human experiences and technological advancements.
Jamal Al Shehhi, also on the board, highlighted the conference’s sessions and workshops, which will delve into cutting-edge technologies, challenges in information management, and sustainable library practices. He emphasized the library’s aim to empower professionals in the field, enabling them to enhance their libraries as dynamic community hubs in the 21st century.
