DUBAI: (UPDATED) On August 15, the UAE joined in celebrating Indian Independence Day, a significant occasion marking India’s journey to freedom. The Indian community, along with locals and expatriates, came together for a day of joy and pride.

The celebrations began with flag-raising ceremonies in cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The Indian flag was proudly hoisted, and attendees sang the national anthem, honouring the heroes of India’s independence struggle. The event was filled with lively cultural performances. Venues showcased traditional Indian dance, music, and drama, bringing a slice of Indian culture to the UAE.

Food enthusiasts enjoyed special menus at Indian restaurants and food stalls. There was a variety of dishes to sample, from spicy street food to rich curries, allowing everyone to savour the diverse flavours of Indian cuisine.

The Indian community also took time to reflect on India’s progress since gaining independence. Talks and seminars discussed India’s achievements and future goals, highlighting its advancements in technology, space exploration, and economic development.

Many prominent UAE personalities wished Indians living in the country on this day.

While we celebrate India’s 78th Independence Day, The theme of “Vikasit Bharat” captures our collective aspiration to transform India into a fully developed nation by 2047, marking the centenary of our independence.”

Paras Shahdadpuri, Chairman of Nikai Group, shared his wishes for Indian on Independence Day. “I wish my fellow countrymen a Happy and Prosperous 78th India’s Independence Day. We must highly value, preserve and protect the tremendous struggles made to gain our Independence from foreign yoke. We must not forget the enormous sacrifices to earn our independence. We have already achieved unprecedented growth, particularly in the past decade under the able leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and we are on our way to be the 3rd largest economy of the world,”

He further addded, “We are witnessing very disturbing times in our neighborhood and across the world. There can be differing opinions but we should keep the interests of our nation above all our personal interests and opinions. There can be some elements within our country and outside, but we must be vigilant and resolute in our determination to keep the interest of the nation above all others. We must ensure unity amidst diversity. Let us enjoy diversity as a collection of beautiful flowers in our bouquet of our beloved India.
