Indian diaspora in UAE celebrates Independence Day with cultural unity and strategic leadership led by IBPC Dubai.
DUBAI: The Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC Dubai), under the aegis of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, commemorated India’s 78th Independence Day with grandeur and heartfelt patriotism on 15 August 2025 at the Grand Hyatt Dubai. Over 450 esteemed members of the Indian community — from top diplomats and industry leaders to cultural icons and professionals — came together for an unforgettable evening of unity, culture and purpose.
The evening opened with a traditional Indian welcome amidst tricolour-themed elegance, followed by a stirring video address from H.E. Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, reaffirming the deep India-UAE bond. Also gracing the event was H.E. Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India in Dubai, alongside senior officials and dignitaries.
The highlight of the evening was the inspiring presence of Diana Pundole, the first Indian woman to win a national motorsports championship. Her story resonated deeply with the diaspora, symbolising the resilience and excellence Indians bring to every field.
Guests were treated to a vibrant cultural showcase — folk dances from across India, curated street food stalls, a traditional Thandai bar, and a soulful live concert by acclaimed playback singer Anoop Shankar, creating an immersive celebration of India’s heritage.
More than a ceremonial occasion, the event became a rallying point for vision and strategic impact as IBPC Dubai announced key initiatives from its 2025–26 Activity Calendar:
- A high-level Strategic Delegation to GIFT City under the Capital Connect Series, deepening innovation and finance bridges between India and the UAE
- A relaunch of its Program for Sustainability, aiming to promote joint ESG efforts
- A new Master Class initiative with the Institute of Directors India, focused on succession, governance, and future leadership
- Strengthened focus on empowering professionals across verticals — from law and education to healthcare and real estate
Siddharth Balachandran, Chairman of IBPC Dubai, proudly stated:
“IBPC Dubai is not just a business council. It is a movement — a community of proud Indians empowering progress, bridging economies, and celebrating our identity. This Independence Day, we don’t just honour India’s past — we celebrate our role in building the UAE’s future.”
Through heartfelt celebration and forward-thinking strategy, the event once again highlighted how the Indian diaspora in the UAE continues to serve as a bridge of excellence, contributing meaningfully to the growth and harmony of both nations.
