DUBAI: Dubai Run 2024, presented by Mai Dubai, broke records as 278,000 participants joined the world’s largest fun run on Sheikh Zayed Road. Led by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the event saw a 23% rise in participation compared to last year, underscoring the city’s commitment to health and fitness.
Sheikh Hamdan expressed gratitude to participants, saying, “Dubai Run reflects the power of community, our city’s energy, and commitment to health. Together, we’re building a healthier, happier society while showcasing Dubai’s position as one of the world’s most active cities.”
The event transformed Downtown Dubai into a vibrant celebration of fitness. Participants of all ages and abilities ran the iconic 10 km route past landmarks like the Burj Khalifa or the family-friendly 5 km track through Dubai Opera. Live music, street performances, and mascots like Modesh added to the festive atmosphere. Highlights included aerial displays, pyrotechnics, and a surprise appearance by R&B star Jason Derulo.
Organised by Dubai Sports Council and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, Dubai Run is a flagship event of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), launched by Sheikh Hamdan in 2017. Over the past month, DFC participants engaged in various activities to promote health and wellness, culminating in this grand event.
Saeed Hareb of Dubai Sports Council noted, “Dubai Run is central to our mission of fostering a healthy, active community.” Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, added, “This year’s participation reflects Dubai’s unity and commitment to fitness.”
As the presenting partner, Mai Dubai provided essential hydration for participants, aligning with the emirate’s vision to become a global hub for health and wellness.
