Mumbai: Reports from agencies indicate that a massive billboard collapse during a thunderstorm in Mumbai claimed the lives of at least 14 individuals, with numerous others sustaining injuries.
The incident occurred in the eastern suburb of Ghatkopar, where strong winds and rain caused the billboard to fall onto nearby houses and a petrol station along a busy road.
Rescue efforts continued into the early hours of Tuesday as scores were trapped under the debris. The thunderstorm disrupted traffic across the city and affected operations at Mumbai’s airport.
Mumbai’s municipal corporation reported that 74 individuals were hospitalized, with 31 already discharged.
