Dr. Minnie Bodhanwala: Absolutely! My biography details my life journey, highlighting the challenges I faced as a woman in leadership roles within healthcare. It also recognizes the numerous individuals who have supported me along the way. Essentially, the book captures my experiences and the insights I gained throughout my career.


Q: Why do you think now is the right time to publish this book?

Dr. Minnie Bodhanwala: I believe the timing is crucial. The book serves as an inspiration for young entrepreneurs, particularly women, by providing insights not only into the healthcare sector but also the corporate world at large. Q: Your career has spanned from being a dentist to the CEO of Wadia Hospitals, and now as an author. What challenges have you encountered during this journey?

Dr. Minnie Bodhanwala: My journey has indeed been filled with challenges, but I’ve always embraced them. I approach challenges with a realistic mindset rather than theoretical frameworks. It’s crucial to maintain a clear focus on my goals, regardless of the obstacles I face.

Dr. Minnie Bodhanwala: Yes, being a woman in this position presents unique challenges. Often, there is skepticism about whether a woman can manage a large institution. I have had to demonstrate my capabilities continuously and earn the trust of my colleagues and superiors.

Dr. Minnie Bodhanwala: My family has been incredibly supportive throughout my career. They serve as my backbone, providing advice and insights that help me navigate challenges while maintaining confidentiality regarding my professional duties.


Q: Can you share more about your initiatives in healthcare, particularly regarding the hospital on wheels project? What motivated you to start this initiative?

Dr. Minnie Bodhanwala: The hospital on wheels initiative was born out of a desire to serve underprivileged communities. My first experience with this concept occurred while teaching at a dental college, where I organized a dental camp in an underserved area. The success of that project, where we began serving hundreds of patients daily, encouraged me to expand the initiative.


Q: Who supports the hospital on wheels initiative?

Dr. Minnie Bodhanwala: The project is supported by various corporate sponsors in the regions where we operate. Each corporate partner typically sponsors the initiative for two months in their locality.


Q: What is the Little Hearts Marathon, and what goals does it aim to achieve?

Dr. Minnie Bodhanwala: The Little Hearts Marathon focuses on treating congenital heart diseases in children. We initially organized it to raise funds for treatments in corporate hospitals and succeeded in treating thousands of children. Over the years, it has grown significantly, with thousands participating, and the funds raised directly contribute to enhancing cardiac care facilities.


Q: Post-COVID, have you noticed a shift in public attitudes towards health and wellness? How do you see this affecting the healthcare sector?

Dr. Minnie Bodhanwala: Definitely. The pandemic heightened awareness of personal health, leading people to prioritize not just physical health but also mental well-being. This shift is beneficial for the medical sector, particularly in addressing lifestyle-related diseases that are becoming more prevalent.


Q: How do your grassroots experiences influence your decision-making as a top executive?

Dr. Minnie Bodhanwala: My hands-on experiences allow me to understand the challenges faced at the grassroots level. When making decisions, I consider how my actions will impact those on the ground and ensure that I have the right team in place to address these challenges effectively.


Q: Is there a particular initiative or project you are especially proud of?

Dr. Minnie Bodhanwala: I am proud of the Little Hearts Marathon and the initiatives supporting bone marrow transplants and IVF for underprivileged families. Seeing children and mothers smile after receiving care is immensely rewarding, especially when we can reach out to rural communities.

Dr. Minnie Bodhanwala: A pivotal moment occurred when I joined Wadia Hospital during a crisis involving a baby abduction. The situation required strong leadership and teamwork to restore trust among the staff and patients. Successfully navigating that challenge significantly strengthened my credibility and the trust my team has in my leadership.


Q: What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs, particularly women?

Dr. Minnie Bodhanwala: I encourage young entrepreneurs to remain focused on their goals despite the challenges they may encounter. It’s important not to dwell on obstacles but to envision your success and pursue it relentlessly.

Dr. Minnie Bodhanwala: Yes, I am eager to explore opportunities in the Middle East. I aim to contribute to healthcare initiatives focused on crisis management, accessibility, and quality, aligning with the region’s goals for healthcare excellence.


Q: Given the UAE’s push for attracting top medical talent, what opportunities do you see for collaboration?
