RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spoke with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, condemning the recent Israeli attack and pledging full support to Doha, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
During the call, the crown prince described the Israeli assault as a “criminal act” and a “flagrant violation of international law.” He assured the Emir of Saudi Arabia’s solidarity with Qatar, stressing that the Kingdom is ready to back any steps taken by Doha to safeguard its security and sovereignty.
The call highlights growing regional coordination as Gulf states respond to escalating violence in Gaza and rising tensions in the Middle East. Both Saudi Arabia and Qatar have repeatedly criticised Israel’s actions, while also urging the international community to intervene.
The conversation between the two leaders is seen as part of a broader effort to unify Arab voices against what they view as violations of humanitarian law. Observers note that such calls could play a key role in shaping the region’s diplomatic stance as pressure builds on Israel over civilian casualties.
In recent months, Riyadh and Doha have strengthened ties, following years of strained relations. This renewed cooperation reflects a wider trend in the Gulf, where countries are prioritising joint security concerns and presenting a united front on global issues.
By reaffirming solidarity and condemning Israel’s actions, Saudi Arabia signals its intention to work closely with regional partners like Qatar in addressing both humanitarian and security challenges.
