A man who had been missing for over 26 years was found alive in his neighbor’s cellar, mere meters away from his family home. Omar bin Omran, who was allegedly abducted as a teenager, was located on Sunday. Omran, now 45 and from Algeria, was discovered in a hay-covered basement, unable to speak.

In a video shared on X, Omran can be seen sitting quietly amidst the hay in an improvised enclosure. The accused captor, a 61-year-old man, has been apprehended by authorities, as confirmed by the Djelfa Attorney General’s Office.

The investigation was reignited after receiving a tip-off from the suspect’s brother, who indicated his sibling’s possible involvement in the abduction via a social media post. The National Gendarmerie, upon reopening the case, found a trapdoor concealed beneath hay on the cellar floor.

Omran has been taken for both physical and psychological medical care.
