Dubai: The UAE has launched a two-month visa amnesty program starting September 1, 2024. The program allows overstayers to regularize their visas or exit the country without a fine. It will be active until October 30, 2024

Since 1 September 2024, the Consulate General of India in Dubai has operated Facilitation Centers in collaboration with various Indian diaspora organizations. The Consulate has facilitated more than 4000 service seekers, issued over 600 passports and 800 emergency certificates, and helped with the issuance of more than 500 exit permits.

In the first month, 4000 Indians, who were at sea, got legal status after the intervention of the Consulate General of India. Many left the country with the help of exit permits, legalized their status, and either joined or looked for new job opportunities. Fine waiver, expired passport renewal, and exit facilitation of expired visa holders without fines are major achievements of this amnesty scheme.

Since 1 September 2024, the Consulate General of India in Dubai has operated Facilitation Centers at the Consulate and Al Awir to assist Indian citizens in availing themselves of the benefits of the ongoing UAE Visa Amnesty initiative.

The Consulate urges eligible Indian citizens in Dubai and the Northern Emirates to take advantage of the amnesty program to legalize their stay. For any information regarding procedures for the issuance of travel documents, applicants may contact 050-9433111 between 0800 and 1800 hours. They may also contact the PBSK Helpline at 800-46342 (24/7).

The two-month scheme, which runs until October 30, will allow violators to either regularize their status or leave the country without bans, fines, or exit fees. UAE follows a balanced approach to humanity and law. Federal law regulates residency strictly, and the 2024 Visa amnesty reflects a better understanding of human circumstances as many illegal residents are not intentionally staying in Dubai as they have other issues. The government of UAE understood this, and supported the offering of legal grounds for amnesty while ensuring that those who need help can get help legally
