LONDON: His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has become the first civilian leader to receive the prestigious “Life of Leadership Excellence Award” from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom. The honour recognises his lifelong contributions to leadership, sustainability, and the advancement of Dubai and the UAE in global energy sectors.

Presented by The Sandhurst Trust, the award celebrates Al Tayer’s transformative impact on the energy and water industries and his dedication to serving with vision and purpose. Vaughan Kent-Payne, Director of the Sandhurst Trust, described the award as “emblematic of the very principles” Sandhurst upholds: leadership rooted in service and integrity.

His Excellency accepted the award with deep gratitude, dedicating it to the wise leadership of the UAE, led by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Al Tayer highlighted that leadership in the UAE is a reflection of national values and the pursuit of sustainable excellence.

Speaking at the ceremony, Al Tayer shared how DEWA’s organisational culture mirrors the UAE’s national ethos by embedding leadership, innovation, and integrity at every level. He emphasised that the award is not only a personal honour but a tribute to the UAE’s journey towards global excellence.

Al Tayer extended appreciation to Sandhurst officials and members of the Ducis Leadership Institute for the recognition. He noted that this milestone will inspire continued progress in DEWA’s mission to lead in sustainable utilities and service innovation for communities and the planet.
