DUBAI: Dubai Police have dismantled a cybercrime network accused of defrauding individuals by impersonating legitimate investment brokers online. The gang allegedly promoted fake trading and investment platforms through social media and phone calls, luring victims with promises of fast, high returns.

The arrests were carried out by the Anti-Fraud Centre under the General Department of Criminal Investigation, following several complaints from victims who were contacted by individuals claiming to represent well-known digital investment firms. The operation forms part of the national awareness campaign, #BeAwareofFraud.

Dubai Police revealed that the scammers used convincing language and online materials to gain trust, encouraging victims to transfer money to what appeared to be official accounts. In reality, the funds were diverted to offshore accounts. After careful surveillance and digital tracking, the authorities successfully identified and apprehended the suspects.

The cybercriminals have now been referred to the appropriate judicial authorities. Police emphasised their ongoing commitment to combatting online fraud and urged the public to remain vigilant when approached with unsolicited investment offers.

Authorities also encouraged residents to verify the credibility of trading platforms and report suspicious activity to the police. The campaign aims to raise awareness and strengthen public cooperation in preventing such crimes.
