NEW DELHI: India will witness a massive 4,800,000 weddings this November and December, marking the peak of the wedding season, as per predictions of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT). This period is expected to bring in an approximately $7.23 billion (IRS 6 lakh crore) in business, with retailers gearing up for a significant boost in sales across the country.
In particular, Delhi is set to see around 4.5 lakh weddings, contributing approximately $1.81 billion (IRS 1.5 lakh crore) to the local economy. As the wedding season officially begins on November 12, 2024, traders and businesses are optimistic about the upcoming economic uplift.

According to CAIT’s recent study, the retail sector, covering a wide range of goods and services, is poised to achieve a total turnover of approximately $7.11 billion (IRS 5.9 lakh crore) during this festive period. This surge in business is a result of the increased demand for everything from wedding attire and jewellery to catering services, home decor, and gifts.
The wedding season in India is not just a time of celebration but also a major economic event, with numerous sectors seeing a boost in sales. Retailers are expecting a windfall, as the demand for wedding-related products and services traditionally spikes in the run-up to the marriage season. As the economy continues to recover, the wedding industry stands as a crucial contributor to economic growth, benefiting small businesses and large retailers alike.
