ABU DHABI: India UAE Cultural Ties are proving more crucial than ever in promoting global peace and sustainable development, according to India’s Minister of Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Speaking to Emirates News Agency (WAM) during the “Culture Summit Abu Dhabi 2025,” he underlined the profound historical and civilisational connections linking the two nations.
Shekhawat highlighted that India UAE Cultural Ties extend well beyond trade. He praised the vital role of the five million-strong Indian expatriate community in the UAE, noting their significant contributions across economic and strategic sectors. “Their role is pivotal in driving comprehensive development,” he said, emphasising how these individuals bridge cultures and foster mutual respect daily.
Interestingly, he pointed out that the UAE is now India’s third-largest global trading partner. This economic interdependence, he stressed, is a natural extension of their longstanding cultural bonds. Strengthening India UAE Cultural Ties remains a priority to serve mutual national interests and to deepen people-to-people engagement, which has already produced tangible benefits for both nations in terms of trade, education, and technological innovation.
During the Culture Summit sessions, Shekhawat participated actively in discussions on the dual impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and the evolving role of culture. He observed that while AI presents challenges to cultural identity and human creativity, it also offers enormous opportunities for global cultural enrichment and broader access to shared knowledge and heritage.
Meanwhile, Shekhawat stressed that promoting culture is no longer optional but an urgent necessity, especially in a world facing increasing regional conflicts. He believes that cultural initiatives can serve as vital bridges to heal divides and foster mutual understanding among nations, supporting diplomatic efforts and creating grassroots connections that make peace sustainable.
In addition, he emphasised that India UAE Cultural Ties could be a strategic pillar for achieving global peace and sustainable development goals. By working together, India and the UAE can create a powerful model for cultural cooperation that other nations might emulate. Their shared vision positions them not just as economic partners but as cultural allies dedicated to a peaceful, sustainable future.
