UAE’s NCM monitors low-pressure system near India with potential to develop into tropical system by 1 October; no UAE impact expected.

ABU DHABI: The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued an update regarding a developing low-pressure system situated near the Indian coastline. Based on current numerical weather models, the system could evolve into a tropical disturbance by 1st October, forming in the northeastern Arabian Sea.

According to the NCM, the tropical system is expected to move toward the central Arabian Sea once it forms. At this stage, the weather authority has confirmed there is no anticipated impact on the UAE. However, they have emphasised that tropical weather patterns often exhibit sudden changes in direction or intensity, making close monitoring essential.

The Centre added that as the system develops, the accuracy of forecasts regarding its strength and path will improve significantly. These insights will help meteorologists track its movement more precisely and assess any potential changes in trajectory.

The NCM also assured the public that it is actively observing the situation and will provide regular updates as more data becomes available. Residents are encouraged to follow only official sources for the latest weather information to avoid speculation or misinformation.

This proactive announcement aligns with the UAE’s broader efforts to enhance public awareness and readiness for regional weather events. While tropical systems forming near the Arabian Sea are not uncommon during this period, the country’s weather monitoring infrastructure is well-equipped to track them accurately and mitigate any potential risks.
