At a fiery TVK rally in Madurai, Vijay vowed to fight NEET and centre-led policies that ignore Tamil Nadu’s identity.
MADURAI: Actor-politician Vijay took centre stage at the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s (TVK) second state conference in Madurai, where he passionately addressed thousands of supporters ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. During the rally, Vijay made headlines by declaring the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as TVK’s “only ideological enemy”, sharply criticising both national and regional governance models.
He accused the BJP of ignoring Tamil Nadu’s cultural and socio-economic identity, especially over contentious issues like NEET. “Revoke NEET! Can you do it, Narendra Modi avargal?” he challenged, adding that Tamil Nadu’s students are being pushed into distress by centralised decisions. The focus keyphrase “TVK rally in Madurai” stood out prominently in the leader’s fiery appeal.
Vijay did not spare the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) either, calling it TVK’s “only political enemy” and alleging a hidden alliance between DMK and BJP. “DMK plays opposition for the public, but is aligned with the Centre behind the scenes,” he warned. The speech, filled with symbolism and assertive language, positioned TVK as a revolutionary force determined to disrupt the status quo.
Invoking Tamil pride and history, Vijay likened TVK’s rise to the political turning points of 1967 and 1977 in the state. “2026 will be remembered as another landmark year,” he stated. With the TVK rally in Madurai setting the tone, he positioned his party as a fresh and morally grounded alternative to entrenched players.
Touching on broader issues, Vijay addressed the plight of Tamil fishermen and the Katchatheevu dispute. He criticised the Central Government for not protecting local interests and called for the return of Katchatheevu. “800 Tamil Nadu fishermen have been attacked,” he revealed. “Retrieve Katchatheevu and give it to us.”
Vijay’s speech reflected TVK’s core vision: a government built on dignity, inclusion, and real service. He pledged to champion the rights of women, farmers, the elderly, and marginalised communities. “TVK does not make underground deals or forge opportunistic alliances. We stand with the people,” he declared.
The TVK rally in Madurai now marks a decisive moment in Tamil Nadu’s political evolution, challenging the usual DMK-AIADMK narrative and placing Vijay at the heart of a growing political wave.
