TikTok safety report reveals over 16.5M videos removed in MENA in Q1 2025 to ensure platform integrity and safety.

MENA: TikTok has released its Q1 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, reaffirming its commitment to platform safety and content integrity across the MENA region. Between January and March 2025, over 16.5 million videos were removed in Egypt, Iraq, UAE, Lebanon, and Morocco for violating TikTok’s Community Guidelines.

The TikTok safety report reflects increased enforcement against harmful content, particularly on LIVE broadcasts. More than 19 million violative LIVE videos were removed globally—a 50% increase from the previous quarter. Across MENA, over 849,000 LIVE hosts were banned, and 1.5 million livestreams interrupted, as TikTok scaled up its proactive detection systems.

In the UAE, 1,051,226 videos were taken down, with a 98.2% proactive removal rate, and 94% deleted within 24 hours. Egypt saw 2.9 million videos removed and led with a 99.6% proactive rate. Iraq recorded over 10 million removals, boasting a 99.5% proactive rate and 95.5% removal within 24 hours.

In Lebanon, 1.34 million videos were taken down with a 99.5% proactive rate, and Morocco followed with 1.04 million removals and a 98.9% proactive rate.

TikTok’s appeal and restoration process added transparency. Iraq led with 209,291 videos restored after successful appeals, followed by Egypt (144,605), Morocco (53,525), the UAE (41,148), and Lebanon (31,880).

The report underscores TikTok’s balanced approach, combining AI tools and human moderation. Users are always notified of content actions and can appeal moderation decisions.
