UAE intensifies diplomatic efforts to lift Gaza blockade, secure ceasefires, and ensure humanitarian aid, highlighting support for a two-state solution.
UAE: The UAE Gaza diplomacy efforts have intensified since the conflict’s escalation in October 2023, with the Emirates emerging as a central voice in pushing for de-escalation and humanitarian access. The UAE’s foreign policy aligns with international humanitarian principles, focusing on easing Palestinian suffering and achieving a lasting political resolution.
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has engaged world leaders in ongoing discussions to uphold international law and protect civilians in Gaza. Notably, he addressed the BRICS Extraordinary Joint Meeting in November 2023, reaffirming the UAE’s call for an immediate ceasefire and unimpeded humanitarian access.
In July 2025, diplomatic outreach led to a breakthrough when H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan secured an agreement with Israel to deliver urgent food aid to 15,000 Gazans. This follows the UAE’s previous role in the adoption of key UN Security Council resolutions—2712 and 2720—aimed at expanding humanitarian corridors and protecting aid workers.
The UAE has also been active in regional diplomacy, participating in the Cairo Ministerial Conference and the OIC foreign ministers’ meeting in Saudi Arabia. At each forum, it called for comprehensive ceasefires, open crossings, and reinforced support for UNRWA’s efforts in Gaza.
In May 2024, the UAE welcomed the International Court of Justice’s provisional measures ordering Israel to halt military operations in Rafah. A few weeks later, it joined the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels to push for aid delivery and peace negotiations.
In multilateral settings, including the UN Conference on the Two-State Solution, the UAE has consistently advocated for a sustainable political settlement to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Its balanced approach reinforces its role as a diplomatic bridge in the Middle East peace process.
