ABU DHABI: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan honoured the 2025 Zayed Sustainability Prize winners, spotlighting 11 organisations and high schools for transformative global contributions.
During the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the winners were recognised in six categories—Health, Food, Energy, Water, Climate Action, and Global High Schools. The award ceremony, attended by global leaders, highlighted the UAE’s dedication to fostering innovation and addressing critical challenges.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed praised the winners’ role in building a sustainable future, underscoring the prize’s legacy of empowering communities and addressing global challenges.
Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, lauded the innovations: “This year’s winners deliver solutions leveraging advanced technologies like AI to achieve scalable, transformative impact.”
Notable winners include:
1. Health: Periwinkle Technologies (India) developed a portable, AI-enabled cervical cancer screening device, benefitting over 300,000 women in underserved areas.
2. Food: NaFarm Foods (Nigeria) created solar food dryers, reducing waste and carbon emissions while supporting 65,000 farmers.
3. Energy: Palki Motors (Bangladesh) introduced affordable electric vehicles with solar-powered battery swap stations, reaching 23,000 people.
4. Water: SkyJuice Foundation (Australia) provided clean water to 3 million people across 74 countries via gravity-powered filters.
5. Climate Action: OpenMap Development Tanzania used advanced mapping and drone technology to empower 140,000 people.
Global High Schools winners:
Schools from Mexico, Ghana, UAE, Uzbekistan, Nepal, and New Zealand were honoured for innovative community projects impacting over half a million people.
