DUBAI: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the completion of 71% of the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, a significant infrastructure upgrade designed to ease traffic and enhance connectivity across key routes in Dubai.
With the opening of a new three-lane bridge linking Sheikh Rashid Road to Infinity Bridge, traffic flow has been improved between major intersections. The project spans 4.8 km, extending from the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street intersection to Falcon Interchange on Al Mina Street.
Phase 4 of the project, which has seen three bridges constructed, will accommodate up to 19,400 vehicles per hour across all lanes. A second bridge, linking Al Mina Intersection to Sheikh Rashid Road, is expected to open in January.
The Al Shindagha Corridor project aims to reduce travel times dramatically, from 104 minutes to just 16 minutes by 2030. It will also elevate safety standards and road capacity, benefitting over one million residents in the surrounding areas, including key developments like Dubai Islands and Deira Waterfront.
Additionally, the project includes upgrades to surface intersections, pedestrian bridges, traffic systems, and more. The improvements will save an estimated AED 45 billion in reduced travel times over the next two decades.
This ambitious project reflects RTA’s commitment to keeping pace with Dubai’s urban and population growth, while ensuring smooth traffic flow and greater safety across one of the city’s busiest corridors.
