DUBAI: Passengers travelling between Dubai and other emirates can now stay connected throughout their journey, thanks to a new initiative by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in partnership with e&. The rollout of free Wi-Fi on all 259 intercity buses has been completed, making commuting more productive and enjoyable.

This move is aimed at improving passenger experience on routes connecting Dubai to Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ajman, and Fujairah. Whether using smartphones, tablets or laptops, riders can access the internet free of charge, enabling them to browse, catch up on work, or stay in touch with loved ones while on the move.

The initiative supports RTA’s ongoing digital transformation strategy and aligns with the UAE’s broader Digital Government Strategy. It reflects the city’s commitment to creating smart, connected transport services that cater to the diverse needs of its residents and visitors.

RTA has confirmed that the Wi-Fi service will undergo continuous evaluation in collaboration with e& to ensure top-tier performance. There are also plans to extend similar connectivity services to other public transport systems, including marine transport.

By bringing seamless digital access on board, the RTA is working towards Dubai’s wider vision of becoming the world’s smartest and happiest city. This step not only enhances commuter convenience but also positions Dubai as a pioneer in integrating technology into public mobility.

The service is available to all passengers and requires a simple log-in process, offering both speed and reliability across the entire journey.
