DUBAI: Dubai Municipality has achieved a world-first by earning the ISO 53800 certification for gender equality and women’s empowerment from global certification body gTUV. The recognition comes as the UAE celebrates Emirati Women’s Day, underlining the country’s dedication to equality, merit-based advancement, and inclusive growth.

The ISO 53800 standard, developed by the international certification leader TÜV, provides a structured framework to promote gender equality in public and private institutions. Dubai Municipality’s attainment of this certification signifies not only a regional benchmark but also a global model for fair workplace policies, inclusive leadership, and empowerment initiatives rooted in justice and sustainability.

The focus keyphrase ISO 53800 certification reflects Dubai Municipality’s institutional commitment to embedding gender equality as a key driver of innovation and service excellence. According to Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General, the milestone aligns with the UAE’s National Strategy for Empowerment of Emirati Women 2023–2031, while positioning Dubai as a city that leads by example in translating empowerment policies into tangible impact.
