RTA has launched 28 new initiatives in 2025 to enhance Dubai’s taxi services, focusing on comfort, sustainability and smart mobility systems.
DUBAI: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has revealed the successful rollout of 28 targeted initiatives in 2025 aimed at enhancing Dubai’s taxi services. Designed to elevate passenger comfort, driver performance and operational standards, the initiatives form part of RTA’s strategy to deliver safe, smart and sustainable urban mobility for all.
According to Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, the completion rate of these initiatives had reached 89.8% by the third quarter of 2025. “Several high-impact initiatives remain in progress and are on track,” he confirmed.
Among the standout developments were the deployment of real-time air quality sensors inside taxis, a revamp of driver uniforms with weather-appropriate fabrics, and an AED 8 million annual reward programme for top-performing drivers and franchise operators.
Further comfort enhancements included replacing standard seat fabrics with leather upholstery for improved hygiene and durability, equipping taxis with built-in air fresheners, and linking trip evaluation scores to RTA systems for better service feedback and monitoring.
The RTA’s approach also included stronger integration of tech systems to monitor operations and ensure compliance, making every ride smoother, cleaner and more efficient.
These moves align with Dubai’s Smart City vision, supporting the emirate’s broader ambition to boost quality of life through innovation and infrastructure. RTA will continue advancing smart solutions to meet the needs of a fast-growing, modern metropolis.
This comprehensive reform of the taxi sector reflects the leadership’s drive to position Dubai as a model city in transport excellence and passenger satisfaction.
