Cinema and e-gaming spotlighted at Emirati Media Forum as key to Dubai’s creative economy and global media leadership.

DUBAI: The 10th Emirati Media Forum cast a spotlight on the growing influence of cinema and e-gaming in shaping the future of media. Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, the forum also saw the attendance of H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture.

One of the headline sessions, The Impact of Film and E-Gaming on the Future of Media, featured prominent speakers including Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, and Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM). The panel was moderated by Abdullatif Alsayegh, CEO of Alsayegh Media.

Discussions centred on how both industries serve as vital engines for Dubai’s creative economy, offering strategic investment opportunities and amplifying the city’s status as a global media hub.

Belhoul emphasised the importance of integrating artificial intelligence into media strategies to remain ahead in a fast-evolving landscape, while Kazim spoke on using films and games to project Dubai’s cultural identity to international audiences.

Speakers agreed that cinema and e-gaming are not just entertainment but pivotal elements in creating a future-ready, globally competitive media ecosystem. They also stressed the need for maintaining a balance between innovation, cultural identity, and governance.
