Kazem ice-cream, a heritage brand from Gaza, opens its first UAE branch in Ajman. The cultural favourite is known for its “barrad”.
AJMAN: The iconic Kazem ice-cream parlour from Gaza has officially opened its first international branch in Ajman, UAE. Established in 1950, Kazem is more than just a sweet treat shop—it’s a powerful symbol of cultural nostalgia for many Palestinians.
Known especially for its citrusy slushy known as “barrad”, Kazem’s recipes have been passed down for generations. The Ajman branch features original flavours brought directly from Gaza, aiming to bring an authentic and familiar experience to a new audience in the Emirates.
This move comes as part of a broader plan to expand across the UAE, with possible new locations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi being explored. The store’s opening has already drawn significant crowds, particularly from Palestinian expatriates eager to reconnect with their roots.
The initiative is also being seen as a celebration of Palestinian heritage through culinary tradition, offering a taste of home for many who’ve long missed it. More than just a commercial venture, Kazem’s expansion aims to preserve a beloved legacy, now shared with the diverse communities of the UAE.
