RTA’s Dubai Traffix programme receives global 7-star recognition for innovation in traffic engineering and urban planning solutions.
DUBAI: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has achieved a major global milestone, receiving a 7-star classification from the Global Benchmarking Network for its Dubai Traffix programme — a comprehensive digital platform that revolutionises traffic engineering and urban infrastructure planning.
The recognition, awarded by an international jury, ranks Dubai Traffix among the world’s most innovative best practices in traffic engineering. It marks the highest possible rating and solidifies Dubai’s leadership in integrated transport and urban planning systems.
Hussain Al Banna, CEO of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, stated that the platform represents a game-changing innovation that enhances traffic management, boosts infrastructure efficiency, and supports the economic and urban growth of the city. Since its launch in 2017, Dubai Traffix has enabled over 4,000 traffic impact studies and supported 180 cooperation agreements between RTA and developers to implement infrastructure solutions.
He added that the platform streamlines all traffic engineering procedures — from land use analysis and movement studies to agency coordination and final approvals. It integrates seamlessly with RTA’s internal systems and Dubai Municipality’s building permit platforms, aligning development projects with the city’s master transportation plans.
The system also allows planners to anticipate traffic volumes, align land use with road network capacity, and implement timely solutions to maintain Dubai’s edge in global indices for infrastructure and travel time. Recognised as RTA’s intellectual property since 2024, Dubai Traffix stands as one of the most advanced urban planning technologies used in modern cities today.
In March 2025, the Global Benchmarking Network awarded the 7-star rating based on innovation, performance, and efficiency — a testament to RTA’s continuous pursuit of global excellence under its vision: “The World Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility.”
