DUBAI: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has partnered with Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Group to install air-to-water dispensers at rest areas for delivery riders. The initiative, part of Phase I, aims to enhance the safety and well-being of these drivers. Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency, and Ali Al-Abdullah, Managing Director of Government Affairs & Corporate Real Estate at Majid Al Futtaim, signed the agreement.
The air-to-water dispensers use advanced technology to convert atmospheric humidity into safe drinking water. Operating optimally at 30 degrees Celsius and 65% humidity, each dispenser can produce up to 100 litres of water per day.
“This partnership underscores RTA’s commitment to collaborating with the private sector to ensure the safety of delivery bike drivers,” said Abdullah Yousef Al Ali. He emphasized that the initiative not only supports a safe transport system in Dubai but also reflects Majid Al Futtaim Group’s commitment to social responsibility and sustainability.

RTA’s broader effort includes constructing 40 air-conditioned rest areas across Dubai for delivery riders. These areas are designed to improve safety and comfort for drivers working long hours outdoors. Several rest areas have already been completed, with the rest scheduled for construction in phases.
The RTA expressed gratitude to Majid Al Futtaim for their support in providing essential drinking water to delivery drivers, highlighting its critical role in maintaining their health and enhancing their working conditions. The initiative aligns with Dubai’s commitment to fostering a safe and supportive environment for all residents and visitors.
