Sharjah Book Fair security committee reviews safety and emergency protocols, ensuring readiness for thousands of SIBF 2025 visitors.
SHARJAH: Ahead of the 44th Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF 2025), the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) has intensified safety and emergency response preparations. The fair, running from 5 to 16 November at Expo Centre Sharjah, is expected to welcome thousands of visitors daily, making robust security planning essential.
The SBA-led security committee convened with key emergency response entities including Sharjah Police, Civil Defence, SANID volunteers, the Ministry of Health and Prevention, and National Ambulance UAE. The committee reviewed evacuation procedures, designated emergency roles, and finalised the Cooperation Gate as the main assembly point in case of evacuation.
As part of these preparations, a full-scale mock evacuation drill was held at the venue. The exercise tested the readiness of all safety personnel and the efficiency of evacuation routes, communication protocols, and on-ground coordination.
Badr Mohammed Saab, Director of Government Communications at SBA, stated, “Visitor safety is always our highest priority. Close cooperation among all stakeholders ensures we provide a secure, seamless experience to every guest and exhibitor attending the fair.”
The 12-day event is one of the largest literary gatherings in the region, and safety protocols are central to maintaining its success and accessibility.
