Sharjah Ruler approves 700 new jobs, promotions, and pay increases worth $8.3m annually to support Emirati talent.

SHARJAH: Sharjah has unveiled a major workforce development initiative that will see 700 Emirati citizens hired in government roles by the end of 2025, alongside extensive promotions and pay rises for existing employees.

Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, approved promotions for 1,523 government employees, including job advancements and special financial awards. These promotions will cost AED22 million ($6 million) annually.

In addition, 254 employees who have earned new academic qualifications — including PhDs, Master’s degrees, and Bachelor’s degrees — will receive status adjustments, with pay increases applied retroactively from the date each qualification was obtained. These adjustments will cost AED8.42 million ($2.3 million) annually.

The combined annual financial impact of the promotions and qualification-based pay rises is more than AED30.4 million ($8.3 million). The initiative reflects Sharjah’s dedication to rewarding academic achievement, fostering career growth, and providing new opportunities for Emiratis in the government sector.
