DUBAI: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, along with senior government officials, honoured the winners of the UAE AI Award during a ceremony at the UAE Government Annual Meeting 2024 in Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Mohammed emphasised the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing public services and driving business innovation, expressing the UAE’s commitment to leading in AI adoption.
The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including the Crown Prince of Dubai and the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, highlighting the significance of the event. Launched by the UAE Council for Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain, the UAE AI Award encourages federal, local, and semi-government entities to adopt advanced AI applications. The aim is to set a national benchmark for AI utilisation and promote innovative solutions that enhance competitiveness and collaboration.
Among the notable winners, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received the Service Excellence award for its Smart Mission project, which offers AI-driven consulate services without human intervention. This innovative service, first introduced at the UAE Embassy in South Korea, aims to expand to five additional missions soon.
DP World was recognised in the Operational Efficiency category for its ‘Tanbeeh’ platform, an AI-powered solution enhancing readiness for emergency teams by rapidly detecting fires and monitoring compliance with safety protocols. The Integrated Transport Centre won the Decision-Making award for its STEAM+ system, which processes vast amounts of data to inform transportation investments and address mobility needs in Abu Dhabi.

The Abu Dhabi Advanced Technology Research Council secured the Emirati AI Solutions award for its Falcon language model, a pioneering achievement in the Arab world that positions it competitively among global tech leaders. With over 225 submissions, the UAE AI Award showcases the country’s commitment to advancing AI and digital innovation, marking a significant step towards a tech-driven future.
